  • Knife and cutting board (for slicing ingredients)
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Ingredients

  • For the Sauce:
  • 3 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce optional, for added depth
  • 1 tablespoon honey or brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
  • 1/2 cup beef broth or water
  • For the Dish:
  • 8 ounces fresh or dried noodles udon, ramen, or your choice
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 pound beef sirloin or flank steak thinly sliced against the grain
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1 red bell pepper sliced
  • 1 cup broccoli florets or other vegetables of choice
  • 2 green onions sliced, for garnish
  • Sesame seeds optional, for garnish

Instructions

  • Prepare the Sauce :
  • In a small bowl, whisk together the hoisin sauce, soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), honey or brown sugar, sesame oil, rice vinegar, and beef broth. Set aside.
  • Cook the Noodles :
  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  • Cook the Beef :
  • Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the thinly sliced beef and cook for 2–3 minutes, stirring frequently, until browned but not fully cooked through. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
  • Stir-Fry the Vegetables :
  • In the same skillet, add a bit more oil if needed. Stir-fry the minced garlic and grated ginger for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • Add the sliced red bell pepper and broccoli florets. Cook for 3–4 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender-crisp.
  • Combine Everything :
  • Return the cooked beef to the skillet with the vegetables. Pour the prepared sauce over the mixture and stir well to combine. Cook for 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly and coats the beef and vegetables.
  • Add the Noodles :
  • Add the cooked noodles to the skillet and toss everything together until heated through and evenly coated with the sauce.
  • Serve :
  • Divide the hoisin beef noodles into serving bowls. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds if desired. Serve hot.

Notes

For extra spice, add a pinch of red pepper flakes or a drizzle of sriracha to the sauce.
Substitute beef with chicken, pork, or tofu for a different protein option.
Use gluten-free noodles and tamari instead of soy sauce for a gluten-free version.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the microwave or on the stovetop.
