Equipment

  • Large skillet or frying pan
  • Mixing bowl
  • Knife and cutting board (for chopping ingredients)
  • Tongs or spatula
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Ingredients

  • For the Broccoli:
  • 1 large head of broccoli cut into bite-sized florets, about 4–5 cups
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 garlic cloves minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes optional, for a hint of spice
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: Lemon wedges for serving

Instructions

  • Prepare the Broccoli :
  • Wash and cut the broccoli into bite-sized florets. Peel and slice the stem into thin pieces if desired.
  • Cook the Broccoli :
  • Heat the olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Once the butter has melted, add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using). Sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • Add the broccoli florets to the skillet. Stir to coat them evenly with the garlic butter mixture.
  • Cook for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the broccoli is tender-crisp and vibrant green. Avoid overcooking to maintain texture.
  • Season and Serve :
  • Season the broccoli with salt and pepper to taste. Toss well to combine.
  • Transfer to a serving dish and serve hot. Add a squeeze of fresh lemon juice if desired for extra brightness.

Notes

For extra flavor, sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the broccoli before serving.
Substitute olive oil with sesame oil for an Asian-inspired twist.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat in the skillet or microwave with a splash of water to retain moisture.
Double the recipe if serving a larger crowd.
